Cats of the Hermitage

As you know, I have had cats my entire life and and most definitely "a cat person".  Russians seem to agree with me and have a lot of cats about but that does make sense.  There are plenty of open fields with tall grass and old buildings which are quite conducive to small rodent and bird populations, and by extension the cats!

And for the record in Russian a male cat is called a кот (kot) and a female cat кошка (koshka).

Because I can, here are some Russian cats on the streets that I have taken pictures of:

Recently in Russian class I was told about the cats that they keep at the world famous Hermitage museum and I thought that it was a story worth of sharing so here is a link to a good article on it.
